Cell Culture Reagents

Growth media는 세포 배양이나 미생물 배양시 사용됩니다. 배양하는 세포나 미생물의 성장을 극대화 시키고, 일관성 있는 결과를 도출해 내기 위해, 배양 제품에 특정한 nutrients, supplements, buffers 그리고 기타 시약들이 필요합니다.

이러한 배양액을 크게 2가지 형태로 구분합니다. 식물이나 동물에서 유래된 특정 cell type에 사용하는 배양액과 박테리아나 효모와 같은 미생물을 키울 때 사용되는 배지로 나눌 수 있습니다.

미생물이나 세포 배양을 위해 특수 배지가 필요한 경우가 있습니다. 배양되기 어려운 균주(fastidious organisms)의 경우 복잡한 영양 요구로 인해 특수한 환경을 제공해 주어야 합니다. 한 예로, 바이러스는 절대 세포내 기생체이기에, 살아 있는 세포로 구성된 growth media가 필요합니다.
